In locution of Maharaj Shri there is a grave imbalance between Upasak ( worshipper) and bhakt ( Devotee ). He often quotes every upasak cannot be distinguished as a spiritual person ( a Devotee), seeding the foremost example of Raavan .
The Dasagriva was a quintessential upasak of Mahadev. He is considered to be the most revered devotee of Shiva. In our entire history it will be onerous to find somebody as dedicated as Raavan towards his pooja-archna . Still he is the primary antagonist in the revered epic Ramayan. His worship , dedication, penance, tap are of no help to categorise him in the line of spirituality. A soul embedded with spirituality can never perform bad karma .
on the other hand a devotee is a worshipper also . Upasak and devotee are two different types of triumphs. They should be contemplated at different perspectives . We need to become devotees ( one who is ready to offer ) and not a worshipper ( one who is demanding in return of the pooja or something similar done ).
